Q: I am trying to program a 2021 Subaru Outback XT key and as far as I know only ssm4 can do this as I have tried with im608 and obdstar x300 and neither can do it. I was wondering if anyone is able to program the key for this model using vxdiag subaru ssm4.
A: Yes, you can program keys for 2021 Outback with our Subaru SSM4 scanner.
An 8-digit authentication key provided by SBR is a required input when working with SSM4. Unlike the previous system, where the teaching codes remained unchanged, the new authentication key changes approximately every 6 months. The new vehicles use a G or H type immobilizer depending on the model: G: Vehicles with rotary key ignition switch H: Keyless access with start button.
2021 requires a certified locksmith login. For 2020MY+ Legacy and Outback with a G or H Type system, the server connection screen shown below will appear. Enter the current authentication key and select Connection.
Program Subaru Outback Legacy 2020 All Keys Lost by Subaru SSM4
SSM4 can connect to Outback/Legacy 2020+ new system. An 8-digit “Authentication Key” supplied by SBR will be a required input when working with SSM4. The new vehicles utilize an Immobilizer Type “G” or “H” system depending on model:
G: Vehicles with a turn key ignition switch
H: Keyless Access with Push-Button Start.
Here is the procedure to perform immobilizer-related repairs on the all-new 2020-2021 year Subaru Legacy and Outback.
Procedure:
Connect SSM4 device to the vehicle and start SSM4 application, from the Main Menu, select Immobilizer etc. registration, select the Vehicle then Immobilizer Type and Confirmed.
When the vehicle utilizes either a G or H -Type system, an Authentication Key is required to perform any of the immobilizer-related functions listed in the menu shown below.
Currently, for all other models, the immobilizer registration process is unchanged.
For 2020MY Legacy and Outback with a G or H -Type system, the Server Connection screen shown below will be displayed. Input the current Authentication Key and select “Connection”.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
As of June 30th, 2022, the Authentication Key has been revised to XFT7DWTH.
